What would younger you say?

If your 6, 10, 13, 16 or 22 yo self were to give you a message, what would they say? I would imagine all those versions of you would have something different and similar to share with you. What might you ask those younger versions of you? Can You imagine how proud they would be? How impressed? How cool your life is?

I mean my 6 yo version would be so excited that I have dogs and a cat, that I have a fun car and go to hockey games. My 10 yo me would love that I teach and work to help people, she always wanted that. My 13 yo me would think having a closet full of clothes was rad and a variety of shoes; they would be amazed that I love to read now. My 16 yo me would roll her eyes at me and say "why did we worry so much, you are fine". My 22 yo me would be so happy that I still hang out with my kids and be glad we were a young mom, because being a young grandma has so many perks. To be honest my 40 year old me would be in awe, she never imagined the peace this version of us feels. All these versions would thank me, would remind me and would encourage me to remember to live in the moment and kick worry to the side; those things still bring me challenges.

Maybe your younger you would be so happy to see you traveling and exploring. Maybe your younger you would be so very proud of how you kept her safe and overcame so very much. Maybe your younger you would remind yourself that you used to love to play and wonder why you stopped doing that. Maybe your younger you would want to thank you for being so strong and continuing on, even when things were so hard. Maybe your younger you would be proud of you for ending toxic cycles, relationships or taking accountability for something so very hard. Maybe your younger you would be so impressed with your financial success and savvy. Maybe, your younger you is thrilled to notice your smile, hear your laughter and is happy you are where you are right now.

If you took a moment to check in with the younger versions of yourself, what encouragement would you hear, what reminders and what compliments would the younger you share with you? Take a moment to check in.......for some of us, it will be that we continued on, that we are still trying and that we still have some faith, hope and grit left in us; all of it is worth noticing!

As a dear friend told me once; EVERY victory is worth celebrating; the big and the small...... a win is a win is a win.

If you are needing to build some momentum, notice the wins, highlight the strengths, and move forward from that space.

xo,

Kel
